Principal Surveyor

Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. (ERSC) seeks a qualified, talented, and experienced professional to join our team as Principal Surveyor in Redlands, CA.

The successful candidate will function as a project manager on major surveying projects or projects on which either construction, preliminary, or land surveying is a major portion. The Principal Surveyor is a licensed land surveyor or registered civil engineer who has demonstrated skills, ability, experience, or education in planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling major surveying projects. The Principal Surveyor has also exhibited an ability to successfully meet project demands and manage technical staff and client relations.

The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in delivering projects related to all forms of mapping, construction surveying, and peer review.

Makes professional survey judgments on land surveying matters.
Develops and implements field survey procedures to ensure top-quality survey performance.
Reviews and administers land surveying matters within a regional office or as a corporate advisor to maintain ERSC’s high level of technical and professional performance and quality of survey work.
Is responsible for field surveying performance to ensure:
- Construction surveying effectiveness, thorough methods, and timely performance.
- Preliminary survey accuracy, reliability, and completeness as to its intended use, and that complete and professional survey information is transmitted to our regional offices or outside clients.
- Land surveying accuracy and assurance that reasonable and acceptance boundary surveys or re-surveys are determined or retraced and that techniques and judgment are involved in producing a professional acceptance solution to land surveying problems.
Develops cost control systems to ensure efficient and cost-effective performance by survey crews.
Provides advice, consultation, and assistance to others who may act as project managers on projects assigned to or by ERSC and its clients.
Provides oversight and approval of peer-reviewed maps and legal documents on behalf of ERSC clients.
Performs or monitors the performance of the survey team members

Licensed Land Surveyor or Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California.
Minimum 10 years of land surveying and civil engineering construction surveying experience.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Surveying, photogrammetry, or the equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related computer programs.
Proficiency in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
Excellent grammar, math, and spelling skills

The successful candidate will function as an entry-level graduate Civil Engineer, assisting with or accomplishing planning, design, and construction management engineering tasks as assigned and inspecting projects as skills allow. Also uses related computerized engineering systems. While supervised closely, functions as a designer on non-routine engineering assignments

Utilizes beginning experience in planning, design, construction management, and inspection of large or small projects.
Utilizes academic training in the use of computers.
Carries out engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
Exercises some judgment and act as a designer on non-routine assignments with supervision from team leaders or project managers.
Seeks training and improving skills and judgment in the water, wastewater, and public works fields.
Performs all other tasks as assigned by Managing Engineer.

Engineer III

Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. (ERSC) seeks a qualified, talented, and experienced professional to join our team as Engineer III in Redlands, CA.

The successful candidate will function as an entry-level graduate Civil Engineer, assisting with or accomplishing planning, design, and construction management engineering tasks as assigned and inspecting projects as skills allow. Acts as a designer and project engineer on flood control and drainage, water and wastewater, roadway design or public works projects.
Coordinates review meetings and maintains direct communication with clients and agencies as part of the design process.
Develops and evaluates alternatives on technical matters.
As a team member, assists in carrying out the project team’s assignments by developing sound technical solutions to problems encountered.
Participates in the development of waste management reports as directed by principal engineers, managing engineer, or Principals.
Reviews work performed by team as a portion of design responsibilities.
Writes reports and or summaries of field investigations and attends meetings related to the design process.
Writes legal descriptions as part of the design process.

Engineer in Training (EIT) in the State of California required.
Registration preferred.
6-10 years experience required.
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or the equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and other job-related computer programs.
Proficiency in computer-aided drafting.
Excellent grammar, math, and spelling skills.
Valid CA driver's license in good standing.

Plan Check Engineer

Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. (ERSC) seeks a qualified, talented, and experienced professional to join our plan check team in Redlands, CA.

The ideal candidate will assist ERSC’s team of professional staff in the execution of plan checks for engineering, survey, and water quality-related documents for land development projects within multiple agencies and cities. As projects progress, the candidate will interface directly with the related clients and developer’s engineers as necessary to provide information and complete reviews of documents. The candidate will also act as the City Surveyor for certain agencies.

Provides plan checking services to multiple municipal and public agency clients.
Reviews engineering documents such as Grading, Street Improvement, Storm Drain, Sewer, and similar plans for agreement with standards, codes, and sound engineering practices.
Reviews survey documents such as lot line adjustments, parcel mergers, legal descriptions, and other similar documents for agreement with standards, codes, and sound practices.
Reviews drainage documents such as hydrology studies, WQMPs, SWPPPs, and other similar documents.
Reviews traffic documents such as signing/striping, street light plans, and other similar documents.
Interfaces directly with clients and Engineers of Record regarding plans in review.
Occasionally provides insight and support to design team members for completion of civil design projects.
Various other duties as required by management.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or similar field;
Minimum of 7 years experience in the discipline;
Expert knowledge of applicable engineering codes, regulations, CA traffic guidance, and engineering practice;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related computer programs. Experience in Microsoft Word and Outlook is required; Bluebeam or Adobe PDF preferred;
Excellent grammar, math, and spelling skills.
